Where venture capital meets
capital markets law —
studied through legal analysis and data
Led by a Ph.D. in Law with research experience at the Korea Capital Market Institute and Korea Venture Investment Corp., KVMI studies venture and financial law, providing policy and institutional analysis grounded in primary sources to public and private institutions.
Connecting practice and policy
By combining hands-on experience in venture investment with academic expertise in capital-market regulation, we offer reliable analysis and policy alternatives.
A research partner grounded in data and law
We pursue honest research grounded in data and in law and institutions, so that participants in the venture-capital ecosystem can make sound judgments.
Evidence-based research for better institutions
Drawing on empirical analysis and comparative law, we diagnose the state of the venture-capital market and propose evidence-based improvements to policy and regulation.
Research & Advisory
We cover a broad range of law, regulation and policy surrounding venture capital and the capital markets.
Capital Markets & Venture Law
We study the policy implications and the legislative and reform direction of laws such as the Financial Investment Services and Capital Markets Act and the Venture Investment Promotion Act.
Digital Assets & Finance
We analyze regulatory trends and institutional design for digital assets, including investor protection for virtual assets and security token offerings (STO).
Venture Market Analysis
We diagnose the structure and flow of the venture-capital market — venture funds, the fund-of-funds, and policy finance — using empirical data.
Policy & Commissioned Research
We carry out commissioned research for public agencies and research institutions, providing the analysis and alternatives needed for policymaking.
Institutional Research Advisory
We provide academic and policy research advisory on regulation and institutions to organizations in finance and venture capital. We do not provide legal advice or representation in individual cases.
Comparative & Overseas Law
We comparatively analyze the venture-capital and capital-market regimes of major jurisdictions to draw implications for reform in Korea.
Principal Researcher
The Institute's research is conducted under the responsibility of a single principal researcher.
